Ghostly Nails

BOO NAIL!
I was playing around with some polish tonight and did a simple and fun nail for Halloween. I quickly painted my nails with Sally Hansen Quick dry polish in black and painted the little ghosts with a bottle of white polish for nail art which has a thin brush for striping or making fun designs. I let it all dry and then topped it off with one coat of OPI top coat.
Halloween is only a week away, so I've been busy with planning my costume for Marietta's Zombie walk, decorating (I'm still not finished) and just enjoying this time of year and all that comes with it. Here's a pic of my BOO nail. Happy Haunting!

It's October!!!

I have been so ready for fall...not to mention the month of October. I started pulling out all of my Halloween decorations. This is the time of year that I come alive. The energy in the air is what drives me. Everything that comes with the season makes me ooze with excitement. Pumpkins, cider, haunted stories, bonfires and most of all All Hallows Eve.  I've been focusing on getting the mantle decorated today. I've had to go back 3 times and add then take away things. Keep in mind most of these items are already lurking about my house with the exception of a few cheap finds. I just pull everything together and display in one area and voila'... instant creepy. So without further delay...here's a couple of pics!
Happy Haunting Everyone!

Look What I Found!

I purchased this fabric almost 2 years ago at Walmart on clearance and my fiance pulled it out of our storage building the other day. Isn't it just delightful!?!? I think I paid something like .50 per yard. Needless to say I have several yard of each fabric. I can't decide what I'm going to do with it. I think that is why I never used it last year. I do love it. Maybe I will make a table runner or mantle decoration. I am not the sewing type fyi. If it can be stapled, hot glued or pinned then I'm good, so you see my dilemma. I think it may be time that Brandy learns to sew. I am old enough after all (smirk). Any and all suggestions would be welcome and appreciated. Have a wonderful day all! :)

MIA

So...I've been gone for quite awhile. Life kind of got in my way of doing the things that I enjoy. Where have I been you ask? Not on a mysterious Transylvanian journey unfortunately. I have been working! Yes, like most living humans I must work. Since my last post I have been....working on fashion shows, a couple of photo shoots, opened a salon, moved into this quaint little cottage, been to hell and back and back to hell with my car...whew...I've been busy. I am attempting to regain some normalcy. (did I say that?) I am going to try to post on a more regular basis. I know that being MIA for 11 months has been unacceptable. So...I shall start anew. I will post some pics from a few of the shows that I've worked on...Maybe something from Halloween of last year, since I never posted any pics. Here I go...
Soiree hair and fashion show from October 2011
Here are some pics from the show. My segment was the "FREAK SHOW"...imagine that!
I worked on a team with some awesome hairstylists. We wanted to kill one another but in the end we were so proud of the work we had accomplished.  This was probably one of the best professional experiences in my life. I love this!

Fall, pumpkin lattes, & zombies

It has been a few weeks since my last post and I've been extremely busy. October is of course one of my favorite months, after all it is every goths time to shine. I have been working on a hair show with the Toni & Guy Academy here in Atlanta. Avant Garde hair is my favorite thing to create so I have been heading up a segment in the hair show called "Freak Show". Being super busy with all of the planning and meetings and working with the entire team for this show has been exhausting and quite time consuming but quite enjoyable. This month has flown by and the show is on the 23rd. Hopefully I can take some down time and blog a little more frequently. I will of course post pix of my models after the show. Here is a pic from a previous avant garde mannequin contest I participated in.

New and improved creepy Jack
During this busy time I have been able to enjoy a few things worth mentioning. I am indulging repeatedly in pumpkin lattes from wherever I can find them. Starbucks makes an awesome one and happens to be the place that I frequent most. I am currently reading a book entitled "The Book Of Lost Things" by John Connolly. It's a little slow, but I am getting into it as I am able to read a little more in depth and uninterrupted. I have always wanted to read this book and just never made the purchase. The cover of the book is what attracted me. Those of you who know it will understand. I have managed to decorate a bit for the holiday. So far my mantle is complete and I have refurbed my fave jack o' lantern. He is a latex cutie who has been through the ringer. In fact I had to glue him back together last year. He has been a Halloween staple for the last five years or so. The other night after coming home for working on the hair show I was so inspired I took out my  paint and creepified old Jack. He has this look that is difficult to describe. I can't decide if he is smiling or is in the middle of a devilish laugh but he now is all the more happy with a little black and gold paint. I am posting his pic so that you may enjoy his evil charm as well. Last, but certainly not least is tonight's season premiere of The Walking Dead series on AMC. Zombies have hit Atlanta Georgia and this show is completely captivating. I have watched this series from the beginning of season one last year. If you haven't seen it you definitely need to tune in tonight!

Awesome Read!

I'm a book geek! There I said it! Now that I'm out of the coffin I can share all of my geekery here. I am an avid reader. I can read all day and night. Sometimes I actually do that with no guilt involved. I wanted to share my latest reads which are hysterically funny, one of which I finished early this morning. The books are a series of three so far entitled the "Living With The Dead" series. I've managed to read the first two in a matter of two days.

First in the series is "Married With Zombies"
This book begins with a couple having marriage difficulties and seeking counseling. They realize the world is not the same when they walk into the office of the marriage counselor and she is eating the clients who had an earlier appointment. Thus begins the onset of the "zombie apocalypse".  This book takes you through their plight of surviving the flesh eating zombies that have basically taken over.

Second in the series is "Flip This Zombie"
The second book basically picks up where the first one leaves off. There are some wickedly funny lines and a great sarcastic view of the post apocalyptic world from the author. Anyone who enjoys good sarcastic humor and zombie killing in a creative fashion will love this book.

Third in the series is "Eat Slay Love"
I am going to the bookstore asap to pick up the latest book which was released July of this year.

As far as what the rest of my Sunday holds in store for me, I will be taking some pics of great finds from my little shopping trip earlier in the week and working on this really cool cross that I am painting from white to BLACK of course with a little antiquing added. Have an wickedly awesome day everyone!

I'm a blogging virgin...

Hello world!
This is officially my first blog post. Took me a moment to figure some of it out but here I am none the less. I am a 40something goth living in the south. Funny huh? Well, here I will write about my life, or lack there of as of late. Post an occasional pic.  I may even make this a regular thing if I like it.
I have been reading other blogs and have become totally addicted. Once I have all of the workings of blogging on this site down I am sure I will post more frequently.

Here's to hoping people actually read this! Oh and feedback is more than welcome. I love interaction. Have a beautiful evening!
